Welcome to Myrtle Beach!

Here's what's happening...

Orange Box  Picking up after the storm...  Myrtle Beach has hired a debris contractor to help pick up the trees that Hurricane Matthew knocked down.  Please put  your yard debris on the curb, but not in the road.  The city has opened a debris drop-off site at the former Phillips Seafood location, corner of US 17 and 21st Avenue North Extension.  City residents who don't want to wait for curbside pickup, and those on private roads or in gated communities, may bring tree debris to this location.  Be prepared to present your driver's license as proof of residency and the location within the city limits from which the debris was collected.  No bagged debris and no construction/demolition debris will be accepted at the site.  For this event only, DO NOT BAG leaves or other tree debris when placing it on the curb for pick up.  Residential landscape contractors should put residential tree debris on the curb in front of the residence where it was collected.  Landscape contractors service commercial properties must take debris to the Horry County Landfill on Highway 90.

Orange Box  Mini Marathon...  The Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon returns for a seventh year on Sunday, October 23, with some 5,000 runners.  The race begins at 7:00 a.m. at Coastal Grand Mall and finishes on the Boardwalk.  Drivers can expect lane and road closures that Sunday morning, but you will be able to get to your destination with a little planning.  Check the on-line map showing the race route and intersection times.

Orange Box  Senior Newsletter issue...  The fall issue of Senior News, a city publication designed especially for a senior audience, is available now.  The quarterly newsletter is produced by the City of Myrtle Beach's Seniors Advisory Committee.  Check it out for upcoming events and other useful information for area seniors, and perhaps any age!

Orange Box  Ocean Boulevard parking...  Changes to the allowed parking in the residential sections of Ocean Boulevard, from 31st Avenue North to 82nd Avenue North, are now in effect.  A description of the parking rules and locations is available, for those who are interested in viewing the changes.  This includes updates approved at the June 28, 2016, City Council meeting.

Orange Box  Golf cart laws...  South Carolina regulates how golf carts may be driven on the public streets.  The complete list of golf cart requirements is available.  Among other things, the cart needs a permit from the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles, as well as liability insurance.  Only licensed drivers, age 16 and older, can drive golf carts on public streets and only during daylight hours.

Orange Box  Parking meters...  Parking meters and pay stations are in effect from March 1 through October 31 in the commercial areas east of Kings Highway.  SeeParking meter our Parking Meter page for more information.  If you have a valid handicapped hang tag or license plate, or a Purple Heart or Disabled American Veterans (DAV) license plate, you may park free at any public meter in South Carolina.  (This exemption does not apply to privately operated meters or pay stations.)  Also, you can use in Parkmobile to conveniently pay for parking via your cell phone or an app.

Orange Box  Police records and statistics...  The Police Department's Police-to-Citizen (P2C) site provides incident reports, arrest records, accident reports, crimeP2C graphic and link statistics and more.  Visit the site to learn more about Myrtle Beach police and local law enforcement results.
