9. The Myrtle Beach Pelicans welcomed nearly 100 military veterans, veteran family members and support groups on to the field during Military Appreciation Night, and that’s the subject of our Photos of the Week. The Pelicans began the night by introducing this year’s veteran card set, and were met with happy applause by fans. Alongside the honorees were the Blue Star Mothers, Rolling Thunder and local organizations who support disabled veterans. A 100-foot flag was spread across the field, held by military members and friends. The ceremony ended with the first pitch by U.S. Army Airborne veteran Jim McManus.
10. Did you know… That the western path around Thunderbolt Park Lake is .77 miles long? Thanks to the new pedestrian bridge on the west side of the park, you can travel uninterrupted around the lake, near Anderson Brothers Bank. The path “begins” next to the Parks, Recreation and Sports Tourism Administration Building and follows the outskirts of the lake, along the entrance to the ITAP on Airpark Drive.
