Commercial establishments serving alcohol that wish to be exempt from the 2:00 a.m. closing requirement specified in Section 14-1 Subsection (e) (1) must complete and submit the two-page Commercial Establishment Exemption Application. City Council approved this amendment to City Code on September 23, 2008, in Ordinance 2008-59. Subsequently, Council set February 28, 2009, as the effective date for the ordinance.
Please complete the application, then print the finished document, have it notarized as indicated, and return it to the Myrtle Beach Police Department. Electronic versions of the application will not be accepted. A two-page synopsis of the requirements and a letter from the South Carolina Department of Revenue about alcohol beverage training programs also are available for review.
Upon receipt of the application, the Police Department’s Regulatory Unit will review it and respond by certified mail within 10 days. Applicants will be required to pick up approved Exemption Permits at the Police Department. Photo identification will be required.
