Performs a variety of building and grounds maintenance work. Must have knowledge of and ability to use common building maintenance and cleaning materials, equipment and methods. Work includes general housekeeping duties, maintaining building cleanliness and attractiveness, setting up and tearing down for events and assisting others in performing various routine tasks. Must be able to work varying shifts including weekends and holidays. Requires HS education or equivalent and some experience in performing related cleaning/maintenance work. COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER – Police Department. Performs responsible and specialized work in the operation of dispatching police, fire and EMS personnel and equipment to fire, crime and/or accident scenes, operate 911 and CAD for all emergency calls, does related clerical duties as required. Must have general knowledge of the City and location of important buildings, first aid, police records systems and clerical procedures. Requires: ability to learn FCC rules and regulations of radio operation; type at a reasonable rate of speed and skill in the operation of radio telecommunications, computer terminals and data entry equipment. Must have any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and ability to successfully complete SCCJA basic communications and NCIC training. Must be 21 years old to comply with State of South Carolina Law Enforcement entrance requirements and possess a valid driver’s license. RECREATION ASSISTANT – Cultural & Leisure Services Department/ Recreation Division. Canal Recreation Center. Temporary/Part-Time Position. Looking for high energy, assertive individual able to multitask at busy front desk area. Duties include, but are not limited to: answering telephone; registering patrons; collecting fees and cleaning work area, teaches fitness classes and youth recreation programs, and assists in all areas of the Recreation Division as needed. Prefer CPR Certified. Must be able to lift 50lb regularly this position involves setting up and breaking down tables and chairs for functions of 200 + throughout the week and during weekend rentals. Requires knowledge of computers and a variety of public recreational activities and ability to maintain effective relationship with citizens of all age groups. Must have a high school education, be able to work evenings & weekends, and possess a valid DL. Rate: $9.61/hour. No benefits. Application deadline: 5:00 p.m., August 30, 2010. LIFEGUARD – Cultural & Leisure Services Department/Aquatics Division @ Pepper Geddings & Canal Street. Temporary/Part-Time positions. Requires current lifeguard certification, 16 years old, valid driver’s license and available to work a variety of hours including evenings and weekends. Rate: $9.61/hour. No Benefits.
