The Fire Department provides excellent fire suppression and protection services to the community from six fire stations. The department also is a "First Responder" on medical calls, and nearly all of the city's firefighters are EMT or Paramedic certified. Each engine has an Automatic External Defibrillator for use on cardiac arrest patients. Firefighters provide a wide range of special services, such as hazardous materials response and confined space rescue. Fire prevention and public education are established priorities, and the Fire Department is proud to have a Class 1 Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating, the best in South Carolina.
