Myrtle Beach names WWII veteran Ted Ross as honorary Grand Marshal...

Theodore "Ted" Ross, who turns 100 years old on May 30, will be the honorary Grand Marshal for this year's Military Appreciation Days Parade on Saturday, May 26. Ross, a veteran of World War II, joins the official Grand Marshal, Deshauna Barbar, as one of the stars of this year's parade and family picnic.

Ted Ross served in the US Army during World War II, receiving the Silver Star for his courageous act...ions during the Battle of the Bulge. His official rank and unit? S/Sgt, Technician Fourth Grade, Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron Mechanized.

Ross is shown here with his WWII medals in this recent picture by Joe Carr Photography. Come wave to Ross and Barber during the parade and then meet them in person at the Big Family Picnic. Barber is a captain in the US Army Reserve, as well as the 2016 Miss USA! Come have your photo taken them.

The parade, sponsored by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, steps off at 10:30 and travels along Pampas Drive and Farrow Parkway. It's followed at noon by the Big Family Picnic in Valor Memorial Garden, sponsored by PGBA, Inc. The Omar Chefs Shriners are providing a fish fry meal (or a hotdog meal if you aren't a fan of fish).
