These include Criminal Investigations, Vice/Narcotics, Traffic Enforcement, Beach Patrol, Bicycle Patrol, Crime Prevention, Special Operations, Detention/Dispatch, Administration and more. To apply for the position of Police, Detention, or TCO, download and complete the Word or PDF files containing the Standard Application, the Supplementary Application and the Importance of Honesty document. All Police Officers, Detention Officers and Telecommunicators must complete Basic Law Enforcement Training as mandated by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety. For information on transferring certifications from another state, please read the Police Officer Candidate Process form. Upon completion of the Basic Law Enforcement course, officers will be assigned to a specific division with a Field Training Officer. All new Police, Detention, and TCO employees must complete a twelve- (12) month probationary period. Periodic in-service training will also be given to employees on a regular basis.
