Detention

The Detention Section is structured under the Support Services Division. The section is managed by Division Commander Captain David Knipes.  The Detention Officers must complete the Basic Jail Training Program held at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.  They also attend the E-911  Communications Training Program as most are required to assist the Telecommunicators (TCO's) in taking service calls as well as dispatch duties.  Our Detention Facility is a temporary holding facility (48 hours) that has a section for both adults and juveniles.  Our Detention Officers (DO's) are certified in fingerprinting using the state of the art LiveScan Station 2000™ (LSS 2000), an automated booking management system designed primarily to capture a subject’s fingerprints in an efficient and accurate manner with out the use of ink and can communicate to and from any Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS).  As well as LiveScan fingerprinting, our DO's use the Photo Imaging Terminal to create a database for easy retrieval of Photographs for use in investigations.

If you are interested in becoming one of our Detention Officers, visit our Career Opportunities Page where you will find additional information on pay, benefits and any job postings.
