Who may file a complaint or commendation? Any individual may make a complaint and the complainant may choose to identify himself or herself or remain anonymous. All complaints including anonymous ones are accepted, although anonymous complaints often reduce the ability to gather all relevant facts upon which to make decisions about any given employee’s behavior. Anyone may file a commendation for any officer. Again, in order to follow up on any commendation, a name or contact information is helpful. How may you file a complaint or commendation? You may call the Myrtle Beach Police Department’s Office of Professional Standards at 843-918-1380. If no one is available, you may leave a message and someone will return your call by the next working day. The Office of Professional Standards regular hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
