Convenience and drive-through businesses are required to have minimum security standards, as specified in Section 14-1, Article X, Sections 14-232 through 14-235. Businesses that have maintained the required security measures without any occurrence or incidence of the crimes identified in the ordinance (Section 14-235, subsection 4) for a period of no less than 24 months may file a notice of exemption from additional security measures.
Convenience and drive-through businesses meeting the requirements may file a Notice of Exemption Application from these enhanced security measures with the Police Department. Please complete the application, then print the finished document, have it notarized as indicated, and return it to the Myrtle Beach Police Department. Electronic versions of the application will not be accepted. Please make check for $25 payable to City of Myrtle Beach.
Upon receipt of the application, the Police Department’s Regulatory Unit will review it and respond by certified mail within 10 days. Applicants will be required to pick up approved Exemption Permits at the Police Department. Photo identification will be required. For more information, contact Lieutenant Amy Prock at 843-918-1811 or Corporal Bryan Murphy at 843-918-1808.
