Work continues on the Thunderbolt Park trailhead and outdoor classroom near The Market Common. The City of Myrtle Beach has converted a building left over from the former Air Force Base and equipped it with restrooms and a water fountain. The structure overlooks the Thunderbolt Park lake and will serve as the southern trailhead for the Grand Park multipurpose path. An outdoor classroom enjoys a view of the lake’s outfall. Work on the project will be finished by June. Several groups contributed to the funding, including CSX; the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base Redevelopment Authority; the Grand Strand Area Transportation Study; SC Parks, Recreation and Tourism; Beazer Homes; and The Vinings Group.
