Two new K-9 officers officially joined the Myrtle Beach Police Department this week. Oath-of-office ceremonies were held for Goggles, a Labrador-Blue Healer mix, and Bek, a Belgian Malinois. Police Chief Amy Prock officiated. The dogs’ human partners are PFC Kenny Harlow for Goggles and PFC Chris Turner for Bek. This brings the total number of active dogs in Myrtle Beach’s K-9 unit to five. Goggles and Bek join Daisy, Kelly and Cees. Among her other skills, Goggles is the only one trained specifically to detect explosives.
