Photos of the Week

The annual awards were conceived by Mary Canty prior to her death and the ceremony continues in her name.  This also was the 11^th annual celebration since the Historic Myrtle Beach Colored School Museum and Education Center was recreated.  This year’s event was dedicated to the late Charlie and Sarah Fitzgerald, who owned and operated Charlie’s Place and the adjacent Fitzgerald Motel.  The city is working to preserve the history of that place and time as part of our African-American and musical heritage.
