Nineteen residents graduated from Class 41 of the Myrtle Beach Citizens Police Academy in ceremonies at the Warren S. Gall Police Annex. Congratulations to Lauren Balough, James Brawley, Deborah Bumpas, Alexa Dungee, Patricia Dungee, Joyce Ford, Clyde Garrison, Hui “Hanna” Jung, Day Kelly, James Kenny, Donald Matre Jr., William McClure, Karen Merkel, Heather Moore, Thomas Muller, Bettie Olivieri, Frank Pallares, Michael Snow and Nicholas Weidl for completing the nine-week class. The Citizens Police Academy covers topics such as crime scene investigation, K-9 units and emergency vehicle operations. Students even have a chance to ride-along with police officers. They come away with a behind-the-scenes look at the Myrtle Beach Police Department and an appreciation that our officers are very nice people! Mayor Brenda Bethune and Police Chief Amy Prock presented the diplomas to Class 41 participants.
