Skateboarders rode the concrete wave last weekend at Matt Hughes Skate Park during the first-ever Myrtle Beach Amateur Skateboard Contest. The Saturday event drew local and regional skateboard enthusiasts who competed for $2,000 in prizes. Proceeds will go toward future expansion of the skate park, 705 33rd Avenue North, behind Pepper Geddings Recreation Center. A large, family-friendly crowd was on hand for the contest. They enjoyed beautiful weather, food trucks, vendors and more as they cheered on their favorites.
