The competition was fun and fierce last weekend at the second annual Myrtle Beach AM Skateboard Contest. Amateur skaters from across the country came to Matt Hughes Skate Park for a friendly competition and fund-raiser. The event was sponsored by Friends of the Skateparks Foundation and the City of Myrtle Beach, among others. All proceeds go toward an expansion at the skate park, with more than $6,800 raised so far. As you can see, skaters showed off their skills and tricks to an appreciative audience. The Matt Hughes Skate Park is off 33rd Avenue North, behind Pepper Geddings Recreation Center.
