Junior ROTC teams from five local high schools competed in the seventh annual Horry County JROTC Drill Meet on Saturday, May 6. Students from Carolina Forest, Conway, Georgetown, Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach High Schools performed under the watchful eyes of US Army recruiters, who served as judges. Congratulations to Myrtle Beach High School for taking top place overall, followed by Carolina Forest and Conway. The competition included armed and unarmed squad and platoon, color guard, armed and unarmed exhibition and armed and unarmed individual knockouts. Everyone then enjoyed lunch in the Myrtle Beach Pelicans picnic area for the Military Family Members Social, co-sponsored by the Blue Star Mothers. Thanks to the many parents and spectators who watched these young men and women compete.
