The Navy Junior ROTC from Myrtle Beach High School again took home the top honors in the Horry County JROTC Drill Meet. The May 7 event at the Myrtle Beach Pelicans’ stadium is part of Military Appreciation Days during May. Young men and women in uniform marched and drilled under the watchful eyes of US Army Recruiters, who served as judges for the Horry County Drill Meet. Five high schools participated in the drill meet: Carolina Forest, Conway, Loris, Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach. Conway High placed second overall; Carolina Forest claimed third. Students competed in armed and unarmed squad, armed and unarmed platoon, freshman squad, color guard and individual armed and unarmed knockouts. The event ended with a picnic for the students, their parents and military family members in the Pelicans’ stadium.
