Myrtle Beach honored our military men and women who gave their lives for our country with the Jack Platt Veterans Walk on Ocean Boulevard this Memorial Day. A World War II veteran, the late Jack Platt was a firm believer in recognizing Memorial Day and the sacrifices made by our military men and women. This year’s rainy weather kept numbers low, but spirits were high, as veterans and family members walked in honor of those who gave their lives. The annual walk concludes with a Battlefield Cross Ceremony, conducted at the Pavilion site by the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association. The Battlefield Cross is a touching tribute to the men and women who were buried where they fell or in one of many “stone gardens” here and in countries across the world, where the United States has defended freedom.
