Myrtle Beach honored Military Appreciations Days with a parade, picnic, march and more on the Memorial Day weekend. Saturday’s Military Appreciation parade on Farrow Parkway through The Market Common remembered Myrtle Beach’s Air Force Base history, while saying “thank you” to our veterans for their service. May is Military Appreciation Month, nationally and locally. The parade, sponsored by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, featured the Parris Island Marine Corps Band, along with floats, Junior ROTC groups, veterans organizations and businesses. Afterward, everyone enjoyed a free picnic in Valor Memorial Garden with exhibits and activities. On Memorial Day Monday, veterans and their loved ones gathered for the Jack Platt Veterans March on Ocean Boulevard, in memory of the servicemen and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice. The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association conducted a Battlefield Cross Ceremony to conclude the walk.
