Local artist Tommy Simpson is refreshing the Whaling Wall at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. The iconic mural was originally created by Wyland in 1993, as one of 100 such whaling walls around the world. His original work has held up remarkably well, but is now getting an update from Simpson. The touch-up is expected to take about six weeks. So far, Simpson has deepened the blue sea color at the base of the mural. He’s beginning to work on the sunrise sky and will brighten the images of the whales, dolphins and birds which complete the mural.
