A steel beam from the north tower of the World Trade Center was reinstalled this week at the new location of the September 11 memorial.  The Unity Memorial has a new place in Myrtle Beach’s Warbird Park, where it will be more visible and accessible to the public.  The relocation is in time for the 20th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania.  Retired New York firefighters were on hand for the beam-setting event, with support from the Myrtle Beach Fire Department.  Former FDNY personnel who now call Myrtle Beach “home” donated the steel beam to Golf Holiday and the Grand Strand as a “thank you” to the community for its support following the attacks.  DDC Engineers provided the design work on the new memorial, while Stalvey Construction successfully transferred the memorial elements from 29th Avenue North to Warbird Park.  The public is invited to attend the September 11 Remembrance Ceremony at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 11, 2021, in Warbird Park.
