You can brush up on your South Carolina history just by looking at the monuments on display at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.  The outdoor plaza is home to several historical markers, including flags for each of the 13 original U.S. colonies.  The bicentennial bell honors the South Carolina residents who signed the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution.  A separate marker remembers all the men and women of South Carolina who served honorably in our Armed Forces.  It was installed in 1986 by the local Disabled American Veterans Chapter.  Finally, you can follow in the moon-booted, cement footprints of South Carolina Astronaut Charles M. Duke, who walked on the moon April 20, 1972.South Carolina history is on display at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
