Photos of the Week
When the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base closed in 1993, the City of Myrtle Beach began to envision what the area could become. Today, the Market Common area is that vision, and Grand Park, with the Grand Park Lake, is the main focal point. The lake was created in the early 2000s to serve as a regional stormwater feature for the redevelopment. Today, a stroll around the lake delights with views from every angle, as these photos illustrate. The wide, 1.1 mile multipurpose path is used by walkers, joggers and bicyclists. Handy exercise stations are scattered along the path, as are benches where you can relax and take in the view.
