Important Note:  New in 2024, extra tables will NOT be available for rent from the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.  Make arrangements in advance to rent and/or bring extra tables.  The maximum limit is four tables per booth space.

OVERVIEW

The popular South Carolina’s Largest Garage Sale is set for Saturday, September 7, 2024, 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, 2101 North Oak Street.  Admission is free!  Parking costs $5/car daily.  Unless cancelled due to a tropical storm or hurricane watch issued for the Myrtle Beach area, this event takes place “rain or shine.”  To view photos from the 2022 event, click here.

NO REFUND POLICY & REGISTRATION RULES

No Refund Policy:  Refunds will NOT be given after a vendor is registered.  No exceptions.  This policy prevents vendors from holding spaces.  Only credit cards are accepted. 

Click here to download the vendor rules, regulations and information packet.  Read all rules and regulations with care before registering!  No exceptions, and registered parties will not receive anything by mail.  All vendors that sell retail items MUST have a South Carolina Retail License.  Vendors are responsible for paying sales tax on items sold at the event.  No map will be distributed and all booth spaces are assigned by Convention Center staff on move-in day.

Vendors register for spaces online and pay with a credit card.  At the end of the online registration process, PRINT out your receipt when you receive confirmation that your credit card payment was accepted.  Bring that receipt with you on move-in day.  Registration ends on August 7, 2024, or when spaces sell out.  Spots fill up fast, so register as soon as possible!  Registered vendors may cancel or re-assign their booth to another person using the initial registered vendor name and confirmation order number.  No refunds.  For information or to cancel, contact Cindy Chauvie at 843-918-1223 or cchauvie@cityofmyrtlebeach.com.  Or, contact Rita Harrell at 843-918-1240 or rharrell@cityofmyrtlebeach.com.


BOOTH RULES & OPTIONS & RULES

The City of Myrtle Beach and/or the Myrtle Beach Convention Center will not be responsible for any theft or damage to merchandise and/or vehicles.  Vendors must keep their sales space manned at all times.

  • Food and beverages are NOT allowed for purchase in exhibit booth spaces.  The City of Myrtle Beach and/or the Myrtle Beach Convention Center retains all concessions rights.  You cannot sell single serving food and/or beverages for immediate consumption on convention center premises.
  • Spaces are 10’x15’.  All vendors must contain their merchandise within the marked boundaries of their space.  Trailers may be parked in designated rented space if they do not exceed seven (7) feet in width and 14 feet in length.
  • The Myrtle Beach Convention Center will provide one (1) 8’ table and two (2) chairs in each booth.  The maximum limit is four (4) tables per booth space.  Extra tables will NOT be available for rent from MBCC.
  • Electric may be ordered during online registration or on the exhibit hall floor for $10 per 20 AMP service.  An Electrical test area will be set up to demonstrate.  The use of extension cords and gasoline-powered generators is PROHIBITED due to fire codes.
  • Goodwill will have a truck at the loading dock in the rear of the building to accept any unwanted items.  Please drop off the items you wish to donate as you leave the Exhibit Hall.  Several dumpsters are located near the loading dock that you can use for trash.  DO NOT LEAVE ITEMS OR TRASH IN YOUR SPACE.

TAX INFORMATION & SC RETAIL LICENSES

Vendors are responsible for paying sales tax on items sold at the event.  South Carolina Department of Revenue representatives will be on hand at the event and will require you to purchase a SC retail license for $50 if a vendor, business or organization falls into any of the categories below and you do not have a license.  Questions?  Visit the South Carolina Department of Revenue website at https://dor.sc.gov for information.

  • ALL names, addresses and telephone numbers of vendors are given to the South Carolina Department of Revenue prior to the South Carolina’s Largest Garage Sale event.
  • Vendors that sell retail items MUST have a South Carolina Retail License. This includes all arts and crafts vendors!
  • If you are selling anything other than used personal items from your home and/or have had a garage sale more than once in the past three (3) months, you are REQUIRED to have a South Carolina Retail Sales License issued by the South Carolina Department of Revenue.
  • If a church, civic club, scout group or nonprofit organization is classified as a nonprofit organization, the South Carolina Department of Revenue requires that you have a separate letter of exemption from their department. The South Carolina Department of Revenue has a listing of the types of organization that may be exempt.  Exemption Form ST-387 must be completed, filed and available at their office.

VENDOR MOVE-IN TIMES, RULES & WRISTBAND POLICY

Vendors use Farlow Street off of 21st Avenue North to move in.  Please unload items quickly and relocate vehicles to the vendor parking lot.  Do NOT leave your vehicle next to your space.  Unless approved by the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, vendor vehicles will not be permitted in the Exhibit Hall before or after the designated move-in times listed above.  Any vendors arriving after 6:00 a.m. on Saturday will have to carry their merchandise in, and all merchandise must be in place and ready to sell by 7:00 a.m.  Again, absolutely no vehicles of any kind will be allowed to enter the Exhibit Hall between 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on the day of the event.

Wristband Policy:  Vendor wristbands MUST be worn by all vendors at all times.  Each booth receives up to two vendor wristbands.  Additional wristbands can be purchased during move-in times for $2 per band.  If you have more than two people per space that arrive before 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, they MUST have a wristband to enter.  No exceptions.  Security will not allow anyone in the halls without a wristband until the event begins at 7:00 a.m.  If vendors lose a wristband, they are responsible for purchasing a new one for $2 each.


EVENT REMINDERS

  • Doors open for vendor move-in at 11:00 a.m. on Friday and 4:00 a.m. on Saturday.
  • The deadline for vehicles to enter into the Exhibit Hall is 6:00 a.m. on Saturday. If you arrive after 6:00 a.m., you must carry items into the Exhibit Hall.  
  • Gates open for shoppers at 7:00 a.m. and admission is free. Parking costs $5/car daily.
  • Vehicles are NOT allowed in the Exhibit Hall for move out until after 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
  • All goods much be removed from the Exhibit Hall with booths cleaned by 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

PROHIBITED ITEMS

City of Myrtle Beach Code of Ordinances:  Chapter 4 Animals

Sec 4-1 Definitions
Wild or feral animal means any animal which is untamed, feral, or not naturally tame or gentle, and which is of a wild nature or disposition, or which is capable of killing, inflicting serious injury on, or causing disease among humans or domesticated animals; or having known tendencies as a species to do so; which shall include, but not be limited to any non-domesticated member of the order Carnivora; all non-domesticated members of the family felidae; wolves, wolf-dog hybrids containing any percentage of wolf, coyotes and foxes; badgers, wolverines, weasels, skunks and mink; raccoons; bears; nonhuman primates to include apes, monkeys, baboons, macaques, lemurs, marmosets, tamarins and other species of the order primates; bats; alligators, crocodiles, caimans, and turtles; scorpions; any snakes or venomous reptiles; or lizards over two feet which are members of the family varavidae. Sec. 4-7 Vicious, dangerous or wild feral animals prohibited; exceptions
(3) It shall be unlawful for any person to sell, expose to public view or contact, exhibit either gratuitously or for a fee, any wild or feral animals, or any animal of mixed domestication and feral lineage within the corporate limits of the city on public or private property, except as provided herein in (c).  Animal control officers and law enforcement officers upon probable cause or citizens by way of warrant lawfully issued may institute criminal process against the owner, keeper or merchant of a wild or feral animal. A wild or feral animal may be immediately impounded by the animal control officer or a sworn law enforcement officer upon a reasonable determination of the exigencies concerning public health, safety and welfare or to alleviate an animal’s suffering, or by warrant lawfully issued upon probable cause.
