Myrtle Beach's updated solid waste ordinance is in effect

Myrtle Beach's updated solid waste ordinance is in effect. Here are samples of the hang tags you may receive on your pelican or other waste as a reminder of the new rules.

• Yard waste and bulk waste must be separated.
• Lids on pelicans and recycling containers must be closed, with no extra waste stacked outside or on top.
• Loose yard waste must be in brown paper lawn bags. Yard waste in plastic bags or roll carts/garbage cans will not be collected.
• The bulk waste limit is two cubic yards. A pile no larger than 3’ x 3’ x 6’ is allowed each week.
• Construction materials need to be removed by property owner or person doing the work.
• Materials must be set out no earlier than 6 p.m. the day before, or 6 a.m. the day of collection.
