Grand opening of Splinter City Disc Golf Course is set for 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 2

Join us for the grand opening of the Splinter City Disc Golf Course at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 2.  The course is across from Warbird Park off Farrow Parkway at 3383 Splinter City Street.  The 18-hole, par-58 course is free to play, but you have to bring your own discs.  Horry County and the City of Myrtle Beach worked together to make the course possible.  The county owns the land and prepared the course, while the city provided the equipment and signage.  It’s named after part of the original Myrtle Beach Air Force Base.  During World War II, a “splinter city” of wooden structures was hastily built on the site to serve the fledgling military base.  You can see the course layout and keep up with your score with an app from UDisc, https://udisc.com/courses/splinter-city-dgc-mXj6.
