Want a taste of what it's like to be a Myrtle Beach firefighter? Here's your chance! The application period is open for the fourth MBFD Citizens' Fire Academy. Applications are due by Friday, February 4. If accepted, the Fire Academy meets from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. each Monday from February 21 to May 9. Participants have the opportunity to wear fire gear, drive a fire truck, learn and perform water rescue skills and more! Applications will be processed in the order received. You must be 18 years of age, or older, and you must be a city or Horry County resident. Applicants undergo a criminal history background check and must provide a copy of photographic identification.
