Myrtle Beach welcomes thousands of college and high school athletes during the next few weeks

The Spring sports tourism rush continues this Friday and Saturday with the annual Coastal Carolina Invitational collegiate track meet at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.
Myrtle Beach welcomes 556 athletes, representing 32 teams from 19 colleges and universities, competing in the first outdoor meet of the 2019 season. States represented among the college teams include Florida, Massachus...etts, Michigan, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and South Carolina.

Also Saturday, the Myrtle Beach Convention Center hosts the Epic Cheer Myrtle Beach Championship, with 707 cheerleaders. At the Grand Park Athletic Complex, spring training for college baseball teams continues to ramp up. Several teams participating in the record-breaking The Ripken Experience Spring Training program will be on the fields. The Ripken Experience is expecting 483 baseball and softball teams from high schools and colleges in the next few weeks.

Looking ahead, the rest of March is just as busy, if not busier!

• March 11-16 – Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational Track & Field Meet at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium and Ashley Booth Field (1,400-plus athletes expected)
• March 11-14 – The Ripken Experience at the Grand Park Athletic Complex
• March 11-12 – Myrtle Beach Pickleball Cabin Fever Tournament at the Myrtle Beach Sports Center (150 athletes expected)
• March 13-17 – ISSA Senior Softball Myrtle Beach Tournament at the Grand Park Athletic Complex (85 teams expected)
• March 15-17 – SC Level 8-10 & Gold State Gymnastics Meet at the Myrtle Beach Sports Center (600 athletes expected)
• March 15-17 – Cheer Ltd Nationals at CANAM at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center
• March 18-24 – The Ripken Experience at the Grand Park Athletic Complex
• March 23-24 – Myrtle Madness Volleyball Tournament at the Myrtle Beach Sports Center (67 teams currently registered)
• March 25-29 – The Ripken Experience at the Grand Park Athletic Complex
• March 30-31 – USSSA Adult Softball Eddie O’Bunn Tournament at the Grand Park Athletic Complex (40 teams expected)
• March 30-31 – Varsity/Spirit Sports Battle at the Beach (cheer and dance competitions) at the Myrtle Beach Sports Center and Convention Center
