Happy Birthday, Myrtle Beach! The City of Myrtle Beach is celebrating its 81st birthday today, March 12. Myrtle Beach was incorporated as an official South Carolina town on March 12, 1938. The vote in favor of incorporation was 133 to 8. By 1940, the town's population had grown to 1,547, according to the US Census.
