Myrtle Beach has "ready" designations from National Weather Service

Forecaster Steve Pfaff from the National Weather Service in Wilmington presented the City of Myrtle Beach with its fifth consecutive StormReady certificate and fourth TsunamiReady designation in July 2018. The designations are good for three years.

Myrtle Beach has been StormReady for the past 12 years, thanks to planning, preparation and training. The designation recognizes those efforts and the city's readiness to respond to weather emergencies. A tsunami here is unlikely, but we are on the coast, so it's good to be prepared -- just in case.
