Beach rules about dogs and tents will change after Labor Day

Remember that beach rules about dogs and tents change after Labor Day. Beginning Tuesday, September 3, you can have dogs on the beach at any time, but they must be on a leash, and you must pick up after them and properly dispose of droppings.  (Beginning May 1, dogs again will be restricted to before 10:00 a.m. and after 5:00 p.m.)  Also starting Tuesday, September 3, you may use tents and canopies up to 12 feet square, in addition to umbrellas. See https://www.cityofmyrtlebeach.com/i_want_to/learn_about/tents_and_umbrellas.php for more information. The city has an “umbrellas only” policy from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Umbrellas still must be in line with or behind the line of lifeguard umbrellas.  When allowed, tents and canopies also must be behind the umbrella line.
