Sand bags, City Council Workshop and other Dorian updates

The City of Myrtle Beach will provide a supply of sand and empty sandbags by noon tomorrow in the lot adjacent to the City Services Building on North Oak Street. This is the same location as during Hurricane Florence last year.

The sand bags are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please consider your neighbors. The forecast as of today is six-plus inches of rain, perhaps, from Hurricane Dorian later this week.

Thursday's Myrtle Beach City Council special meeting and workshop are cancelled due to the hurricane's expected approach. Tuesday's Bike and Pedestrian Committee and Seniors Advisory Committee meetings also are cancelled.

City offices and facilities will be open as usual Tuesday. We will make decisions later in the week based on weather conditions. Please see the earlier post about solid waste service this week.
