Do not bag recyclables!

The City of Myrtle Beach offers curbside recycling for residential customers. You do not need to separate recyclables. Just put them all together in your container. DO NOT BAG RECYCLABLES. Bagged items cannot be recycled and won’t be picked up. The Horry County Solid Waste Authority informed the city of a recent increase in contaminated recyclables. The county says it will charge the city for future contaminated deliveries. Please rinse and clean food, beverage and detergent containers. Here's a handy list of items that can be recycling in our green rollout carts (or the older blue bins, if you still have one)...

• Aluminum and Tin Cans
• Cardboard Boxes (Remove all packing and tape)
• Catalogs, Magazines and Newspapers
• Corrugated Cardboard and Paper Bags (Clean; not greasy)
• Empty Aerosol Cans (No caps)
• Glass bottles and Jars (Remove lids)
• Office Paper, School Paper and Junk Mail
• Paperback Books and Telephone Books
• Pourable Plastic Bottles and Jugs (only if marked #1 through #7)
And, here's a list of what is NOT accepted...
• Appliances
• Cardboard Pizza Boxes
• Clothes
• Hoses
• Non-Pourable Plastic Containers
