Myrtle Beach Election Commission certifies runoff election votes

The Myrtle Beach Election Commission met this morning to canvass and certify the results of Tuesday’s runoff election for one City Council seat.  The final vote totals were 1,810 for John Krajc and 1,636 for Mary Jeffcoat.  The commission declared Krajc the winner.  He will begin his four-year term on City Council at the first regular meeting of the new year on January 14, 2020.  Three provisional ballots were not counted.  Two of the provisional voters had not registered in time for the runoff, and the third was a resident of the City of North Myrtle Beach.
