Myrtle Beach welcomes nearly 6,000 people this weekend for three sporting events

Through Sunday, more than 3,500 people are expected at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center for the Myrtle Beach Gymnastics Cup, a team invitational and elite compulsory qualifier. The event is sponsored by Sports and Beyond, in conjunction with Terry and Don’s Gymnastics. Some 1,200 gymnasts will participate.

You’ll find more flips and twists at the Myrtle Beach Sports Center this Saturday and Sunday. Thomas Gymnastics hosts the 2019 Compulsory State Meet featuring more than 600 gymnasts. In all, attendance of 2,000-plus is expected.

The annual Touchstone Energy Cooperative Bowl is Saturday at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium. The North vs. South showdown begins at 12:00 p.m. and features 88 of South Carolina’s finest high school senior football players. Tickets for all three events are available at their respective entrances.

It may be December, but even more athletes will be in Myrtle Beach later this month.... Looking ahead, we host the CresCom Bank Holiday Invitational at both the Myrtle Beach Convention Center and Sports Center, the Carolina Club Challenge (with eight women’s college basketball teams) at the Convention Center, the Free Agent Football/International Scouting Showcase at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium (240 NCAA seniors), the Beach Ball Classic at the Convention Center, the National College Cornhole Championship at the Sports Center and the Diamond Sports Group All-American Games at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium with 450 youth football players.
