Santee Cooper today presented a $1.8 million check to the City of Myrtle Beach. Mayor Brenda Bethune accepted the payment on behalf of the city. The $1,855,412.55 check represents six months’ worth of franchise fees from the utility. The franchise allows Santee Cooper to use the city's public right-of-way for the equipment needed to deliver electrical service.
