A new neighborhood could be coming to Myrtle Beach

The Myrtle Beach Planning Commission is considering a new neighborhood along Grissom Parkway. The commission is being asked to subdivide 66.7 acres (shown in purple on the attached map) into 157 lots, complete with new streets, ponds and amenities. The neighborhood tentatively will be called Pine Lakes Preserve. Access will be from Granddaddy Drive, off Grissom Parkway. Commissioners reviewed the subdivision request during Tuesday’s meeting and will discuss it again at the September 15 Planning Commission mission. The land already is part of the existing Pine Lakes Golf Course Planned Unit Development (PUD) zoning district, and this residential use was contemplated when the PUD was established 14 years ago. No zoning change is required for the subdivision. City Council approved the zoning back in 2006. The developer is Lennar Carolinas. Future phases are planned (shown in pink and green), although no dates have been set.
