The 911 steal beam will be relocated to Warbird Park

Work is getting underway at Warbird Park to relocate Myrtle Beach’s September 11 memorial there, in time for the 20th anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attacks. The steel beam from the World Trade Center that’s part of the current Unity Memorial off 29th Avenue North will be relocated to Warbird Park and incorporated in the new memorial site. The beam was donated to Myrtle Beach by retired New York City fire-fighters as a “thank you” for the hospitality that the Grand Strand extended in the wake of the September 11 attacks in New York and Washington, as well as the plane crash in Pennsylvania.
