MBFD gives annual awards and promotions

Firefighter and paramedic Thad Bowman received a standing ovation from his peers while accepting the first "Fire Chief Award." It's a recognition award for perseverance, outstanding job performance and dedication to public service. Chief Tom Gwyer said during his speech, "if there's one person I would want saving my family in an emergency, it would be Thad." Dozens of other firefighters were recognized for their heroics in 2021. Those heroics include successfully saving four people during a fire, delivering a baby, ocean rescues, life-saving medical attention, voluntarily deploying to disasters and gathering anti-venom from Alligator Adventure to save a bite victim's life (Thad Bowman). Thank you, MBFD, for your dedicated service.

The Myrtle Beach Fire Department hosted its annual awards and promotions ceremony at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center the morning of Wednesday, January 12.
