"Give a child some paint" mural to be painted by City staff in October

A new mural soon will greet visitors in Myrtle Beach’s Arts & Innovation District. This week, the Community Appearance Board approved the “Give a Child Some Paint” project submitted by the City of Myrtle Beach. The mural’s location will be on the south-facing wall at 522 Broadway Street, adjacent to a vacant lot.
When complete, the art installation will show a child using paint to add color to trees. It represents the city’s belief that, when provided creative tools and support, children make the world a more beautiful and loving place. The mural design was created in concert with the building’s owner.

Myrtle Beach city staff will paint the mural, beginning sometime in mid-October. Since we aren’t artists, the mural will use a “paint by number” format. For more details, contact Brian Schmitt with the City of Myrtle Beach’s Downtown Development Office at

Looking for other murals locally? The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, F.G. Burroughs-S.B. Chapin Art Museum and The Arts Grand Strand partnered to launch the Myrtle Beach Arts & Gallery Trail this month. Art lovers use a mobile device to access a list of more than 100 trail sites.
