First in Service Team of the Week: Public Works Department

JANUARY 13. 2023

FIRST IN SERVICE FRIDAY ✨ Please help the City of Myrtle Beach congratulate the team members who worked through the bitter cold in the days leading up to Christmas, on Christmas and in the days after the holiday to answer the community's calls of service! Duty calls... And this Public Works Department team gave up time with their families to answer. Thank you, team members Howard Vereen, Brandon Salters, Armando Massarella, Kevin Full, Jason Walters, Rusty Heath, Russell Montgomery. Larry Edwards, Timmy Thomas, Cody Porter, Mion Prince, Shakeem Bolie and Michael Holmes, for your First in Service attitudes and dedication to your community. Their nomination(s) read:

"Our on-call team responded to calls for service related to private and City water line breaks, frozen pump station wet wells, sewer blockages, ice on the roadway, and power outages from fallen limbs/trees caused by the blustery winds and prolonged below-freezing temperatures these past four days. These dedicated team members answered the call and gave up precious time with their families this holiday weekend to serve our community and keep everything running!

Our water on-call responders in particular (Michael Holmes and Shakeem Bolie) answered 47 water-related service calls and pulled in support from our Public Works team when needed to assist with larger-scale repairs. Twenty-five (25) of those calls occurred on Christmas Day. Further, a cross-divisional crew (Timmy Thomas, Cody Porter, Mion Prince, Michael Holmes, and Brandon Salters) were out making a large-scale repair well into the night with the frigid temperatures on Christmas Day, and they didn’t finish cleaning up the jobsite until 1:00 a.m."
See the large-scale repair photo below from Christmas Day. Thank you, gentlemen, for being part of our elite Myrtle Beach team. We appreciate you!
