First in Service Friday: Thomas Marshall

JUNE 30, 2023

FIRST IN SERVICE FRIDAY.  Please help the City of Myrtle Beach congratulate Thomas Marshall for being this week’s First in Service Friday Employee of the Week! You may recognize Thomas because he is one of our Services Security Officers at Chapin Memorial Library. He moved to Myrtle Beach from Massachusetts in February of 2016 to be closer to his family and escape the harsh, northern winters. Formerly a Global Logistics Manager in Training for Lucent Technology, Thomas was looking for a change of pace when he found his home in Myrtle Beach.

Thomas Marshall has been an invaluable team member at Chapin Memorial Library since 2018. Upon receiving this award, he stated: “I wouldn’t be where I am without the wonderful people I work with every day.” Thomas consistently goes the extra mile for staff and community members. He is a bright, smiling face as soon as you walk through the door. No task is too big or too small for this outstanding employee. Thomas’s nomination reads:

“I would like to nominate Thomas Marshall for First in Service Friday. Thomas works at Chapin Memorial Library as a security services officer. Thomas greets all patrons with a big smile, welcoming them to the library. Enforcing Library and City policies is not always a popular job, but Thomas does it with great customer skill and in a respectful way. Thomas is always volunteering to help with whatever is needed. This can be setting up for library events, fixing small things around the library or putting together new tables and chairs. Outside of work, Thomas comes in on his Saturdays off to give out water in the summer or coffee and doughnuts in chillier weather to those less fortunate at Chapin Park. These are just a few of the reasons I believe Thomas Marshall exemplifies First in Service.”

Thank you, Thomas, for your hard work and dedication to our community, both on and off the clock. We are grateful for your #FirstInService spirit! You are appreciated!
