First in Service Friday: Donna Ayres
FIRST IN SERVICE FRIDAY
Please help the City of Myrtle Beach congratulate Donna Ayres as this week’s First in Service Friday Employee of the Week! Donna works in the accounts payable division of the Financial Services Department.
Donna began working for the City of Myrtle Beach full-time in November 2009. Originally from Ohio, she and her family traded in the farmland and cold weather for sunshine and shores. She worked as a bank teller and volunteer firefighter, which allowed her to serve her community.
Donna’s favorite part of working in finance is the opportunity to overcome challenges. She enjoys checking boxes and helping her coworkers, which are great First in Service attributes! Upon receiving this award, Donna said she is “…appreciative of the job she has, and will continue through retirement.” Her nomination reads…
“I would like to nominate Donna Ayres from Accounts Payable for First in Service Friday! Donna is one of two workers in accounts payable, and they pay all of the bills for the City of Myrtle Beach. I know how many invoices I send down each week, and I am only in one department. She pays an enormous amount of invoices, handles vendors calling when something is past due and tracks down missing documentation. Every time I ask for something, I get it back quickly, without complaint. To me that is First in Service! I know how much paperwork comes to me, and that’s just a small portion compared to the paperwork that she handles. Donna works very hard to keep the city going, and she is very deserving of this recognition!”
