First in Service Friday: Matthias Grissett

MARCH 8, 2024

Please help the City of Myrtle Beach congratulate Matthias Grissett for being this week's First in Service Friday Employee of the Week! Matthias is the Neighborhood Services Coordinator with the Neighborhood Services Department in City Hall. You'll often find him giving tours at Myrtle Beach's Historic Colored School Museum and Education Center and Charlie's Place which, by the way, included a record number of almost 7,000 visitors last year! Matthias is a Myrtle Beach local and graduate of Myrtle Beach High School. He says there's a lot he loves about his job, but spending so much time with the community is his favorite. His nomination reads:
"It is hard to believe that Matthias Grissett has been with the City of Myrtle Beach for one year! While this is his second round as a city employee, his enthusiasm and team spirit are like that of a college grad beginning his first career. It is pure joy to have Matt as a member of team Neighborhood Services, and his contributions already made are outstanding! As a true native, his love for Myrtle Beach, the people and the rich history are on display every time he provides a tour at the Historic MB Colored School Museum, Charlie’s Place or when he presents at a Neighborhood Watch meeting. His willingness to support the community and go the extra mile is witnessed on a regular basis.
His personal stories make the tours more relatable for the visitors and, oftentimes, he receives notes of thanks and appreciation for his dedication and the knowledge he shares with visitors. We are honored to recommend Matthias as a FISF nominee. He is definitely a model of excellence!"
Thank you, Matt, for being such a valued member of the team. You are appreciated!
