Golf carts are not allowed on sidewalks or multi-purpose paths

State law regulates how golf carts may be driven on public streets, and that does not include on a sidewalk or a multipurpose path. In the photo here, a golf cart turned onto a sidewalk along Farrow Parkway after exiting the East Coast Greenway multipurpose path along South Kings Highway. This is illegal.

The authorized way to ...take a golf cart to the Myrtle Beach State Park is from Mallard Lake Drive, behind Barc Parc South, through the Food Lion Shopping Center to the designated crossing of Kings Highway, then south along the eastern side of Kings Highway to the State Park.

Note that golf carts must be registered with the state and have liability insurance, can only be driven during daylight hours and can only go up to four miles from the registered address and only on secondary roads where the speed limit is 35 m.p.h. or less.
