Hurricane Dorian update; effects expected mid-week

Attached is the 11 a.m. forecast track for Hurricane Dorian.  We are awaiting word from Governor Henry McMaster about possible evacuation orders (perhaps for Zone A) sometime early next week.  Please continue to pay attention to news and weather announcements for the latest information.  Here are several updates...

  • The City of Myrtle Beach has moved to OpCon 2 in advance of the hurricane's approach.  We are making preparations to respond to weather conditions.  The public should be making those preparations, too.  Please see https://cityofmyrtlebeach.com/i_want_to/learn_about/hurricane_preparedness.php.
  • Myrtle Beach International Airport advises that the airport remains open at this time.  It is the individual airlines' decision as to whether flights are delayed or cancelled.  All inquiries should be directed to the passenger's individual airline, not the airport.
  • The scheduled dedication for Phase Two of Savannah's Playground has been postponed one week, due to Hurricane Dorian's approach.  It is being rescheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 11.
