The City of Myrtle Beach's public offices and facilities closed Thursday

The City of Myrtle Beach’s public offices and facilities will close at 5:00 p.m. today (Wednesday, September 4) and be closed all day Thursday, September 5, due to expected weather conditions associated with Hurricane Dorian.  Recreation centers also will close at 5:00 p.m. today and remain closed Thursday.  Police, Fire and emergency services will continue as usual during the period.

City Hall and other public facilities, including the recreation centers, tentatively will reopen at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 6, assuming weather conditions permit.  We will advise if Friday’s time for the resumption of normal public services needs to be adjusted.

Parks and playgrounds are closed until further notice.  Those will reopen as soon as conditions allow.  Chapin Memorial Library also is closed while the evacuation order is in place; the library is in Evacuation Zone A.

The city’s Emergency Operations Center has been partially activated since Tuesday and will be fully activated tomorrow to respond to issues that may arise from Hurricane Dorian.  Please take all precautions to protect your life and property before the storm’s arrive.  Follow news and weather announcements closely for the latest information on Dorian’s path and conditions.
