A tropical cyclone could bring rain and wind to Myrtle Beach this weekend

In South Carolina, intense rainfall events have the potential to create localized flash-flood conditions of roadways and other low lying areas. And, events can promote staging of rainwater within ponds, drainage channels and even yards. When our coastal area receives a larger than normal amount of rainfall and the ground is saturated, it can lead to a heightened possibility of localized flooding.

If you are a concerned resident and see water beginning to collect in a particular area, check nearby stormwater drains to remove any pine straw or debris which may be blocking them.
On an ongoing basis, our Public Works staff monitors and cleans existing drainage infrastructure throughout the city.
Should you observe standing water conditions, report the issue to the Public Works Department at 843-918-2000.
